Growing up, a popular TV show was "Lifestyles Of The Rich and Famous". It was all about these people and places around the world that lived in luxury homes with extravagant decorations and decor.

I don't remember them highlighting Montana, which is odd because some wealthy people call Big Sky Country home.

With places like the Yellowstone Club and other "private resort" type areas becoming more popular, if we were to ask what is Montana's richest town, what would you say?  Big Sky? Whitefish? Bozeman? Someplace near Flathead Lake?

According to one source, it's none of them. The richest town in Montana will more than likely come as a big shock. I would even go as far as saying there are several Montanans who've never even heard of this town.

Before we reveal the richest town in Montana, let's look at a list of Montana's rudest towns.

According to The FW the richest town in the Treasure State is the town of Baker. If you're asking yourself, "where is Baker?" don't feel bad. The small town has a population of right around 1800 people; however, when you look at the economic stats, it seems the little Montana town is doing better than everyone else.

Take a look at the following numbers:

• Median household income: $96,667 (28.6% more than the U.S. median income)
• Households earning over $200,000: 60 (10.0% of households)
• Unemployment rate: 0.0%
• Families with income below poverty level: 8.7%

So what's the secret sauce? Well, according to the folks that named Baker the richest town in Montana, they say it all happened in the early 20th century during a big natural gas boom.

Baker, while not large, does have a great outdoor scene and is close to a couple of State Parks. Oh, and for those of you looking for a social scene, they do have a handful of restaurants and a couple of casinos if you're feeling lucky.
