According to The FW the richest town in the Treasure State is the town of Baker. If you're asking yourself, "where is Baker?" don't feel bad. The small town has a population of right around 1800 people; however, when you look at the economic stats, it seems the little Montana town is doing better than everyone else.
Take a look at the following numbers:
- Median household income: $96,667 (28.6% more than the U.S. median income)
- Households earning over $200,000: 60 (10.0% of households)
- Unemployment rate: 0.0%
- Families with income below poverty level: 8.7%
So what's the secret sauce? Well, according to the folks that named Baker the richest town in Montana, they say it all happened in the early 20th century during a big natural gas boom.
