Long Gone: Bozeman Remembers Beloved Businesses No Longer Around
Andy from The Office said it best when he said "I wish there was a way to know you're in the good old days before you've actually left them"
I think we all feel that way from time to time. For whatever reason, we Bozemanites tend to be a bit nostalgic when it comes to memories of days gone by. Maybe it was a group of friends, a song, or a local hangout that was ingrained into our brains, somewhere that holds a special place not only in your mind but in your heart as well.
While progress can be a good thing, it can also destroy things or places that are near and dear to us, and when those places are gone, we're only left with the memories.
Here in Bozeman, we've seen quite a bit of progress over the last several years and while there are still bits and pieces of the "Old Bozeman" around, several of our favorite local spots have left. Change can be hard, especially when you think that the change might not be for the best. We decided to ask the locals what spots they miss that sadly, are now part of Bozeman's past.
Which spots do Bozemanites miss the most?
Let's face it, life seemed a lot simpler when we were kids and for many Bozeman residents, those places of youth stand out when it comes to names of businesses and places that are no longer around. Here are some of the more popular answers:
- Woolworth's
- Ben Franklin
- Shopko
- Kmart
- Frontier Pies
- The Starlight Drive-In Theatre
- Skate Palace
- Santa Fe Red's
- Ferraro's
Is there a Bozeman business or hangout that is no longer around that you miss? Let us know by sending us a message on our radio station app.
