Too bad this is only in effect in New Zealand.

I love this idea. To cut down on internet trolls using abusive or bullying language on the internet, New Zealand adopted the Harmful Digital Communications Act. According to the act, people can't bully other people on the internet and be sentenced up to two years in jail and fined a little over $32,000. This is impressive.

We all have dealt with terrible people on the internet and this is a great start, but I wish someone here in the United States could draft something up like this. I am for freedom of speech, but this is something we need to look out for in the future.  I know California has some regulations, but if there becomes a national precedent then the internet will become a more positive place for sure. Check out the video below from SourceFed where they talk about the story at the 1:45 mark.
