So over the past weekend, comedian Steve Byrne played the Rialto and it was amazing. Hilarious and pure fun.

The thing is we don't get a lot of stand up shows here and many folks have never been to a big stand up comedy show and don't know how to act during a performance.

So here are a few tips.

  • If you want to get close to the action and are fearless go front row but if you are within a few rows of the stage the comedian might ask you questions or interact with you. Don't be scared have fun with it, it's all in good fun. If you want to be safe, get a seat upstairs or at least five rows back.
  • It's totally normal to have a drink at the show or even before hand but please don't show up to the comedy show belligerent and then sit front row, you will become a nuisance and if necessary will get tossed out.
  • Don't heckle or talk during the comedy show, that's impolite, rude and annoying to the people there trying to enjoy the show.
  • Finally, it's a comedy show. A comedian might say something you might disagree with or to get a rise out of you but it's a comedy show. Have fun and just enjoy yourself.

So the next time you go to a stand up comedy show, have fun and just take it easy and enjoy yourselves.
