Is This Popular Montana Highway Becoming A Death Trap?
This highway has been brutal lately.
Dangerous Roads in Montana
Always be on guard.
Montana might have stunning scenic roads and highways, but it can be dangerous.
We aren't just talking about winter driving.
Montana's roads can be dangerous for several reasons.
Montana's highways and roads can be treacherous due to wildlife crossings, distracted drivers, or construction zones.
Montana has seen deadly accidents over the years due to these problems.
Some highways have seen a massive influx of traffic during certain tourist seasons. These roads are usually two-way and can't handle thousands of cars daily.
Plus, many cars will pull off to the side of the road(where there isn't enough space) to take pictures or need a break from driving.
I-90 and Highway 93 have had a history of being some of the deadliest roads in Montana, but there might be a new contender.
Highway 191 Is Deadly
This highway has had issues lately.
Highway 191 is popular in Montana because it connects Bozeman and Belgrade to Big Sky and Yellowstone National Park.
It's a gorgeous road as you drive between mountains and the stunning Gallatin River by your side.
It doesn't get much better.
The problem is that the road has seen almost daily accidents that back up traffic or shut it down for hours.
The combination of fast-moving cars and slow semi-trucks has created a constant hazard.
The roadway has been long overdue for roadwork, but there aren't any current long-term plans to expand the highway or fix it because that construction would cause more traffic problems.
Locals have been demanding some improvements, but the process is slow.
Montana needs a plan to fix this issue in the next few years, or the problem will worsen.

Maybe we will hear a plan soon.
