Montana's airports have been stepping up lately to accommodate travelers.
The airports in Billings, Missoula, Kalispell, and Bozeman have added new airlines and exciting routes across the country.
The most popular airlines out of Montana offer low fares to fantastic destinations.
Locals love airlines like Southwest, Sun Country, and Allegiant for cheap prices.
Where most airlines are adding routes to Montana, there is one taking away a popular route.
Frontier Airlines Shaking Things Up
Frontier Airlines is a budget airline that used to have a massive presence in Montana.
Frontier had flights at every Montana airport but has slowly disappeared because of other airlines moving in.
One of the only airports still with Frontier Airlines routes is in Missoula.
Frontier has two routes out of Missoula. There is one to Denver and one to Phoenix.
The Phoenix route is seasonal during the summer and winter, so locals can get out of the snow and enjoy the warmth.
Well, that's changing.
Frontier is cutting its route from Missoula to Phoenix in a shakeup to its entire network.
The Points Guy reports Frontier Airlines will discontinue 43 routes across America.
Why are they cutting routes? The airline is seeing a lack of interest in these routes and doesn't want to continue losing money.
The routes could return in 2025, but that's a long shot.
The only airline now that offers direct flights to Phoenix is Allegiant Airlines out of Bozeman and Billings.
