Does Montana Rank Near The Top When It Comes To Job Availability?

In the last couple of years, it seems that Montana business owners have had a heck of a time finding people to fulfill the positions they have available. Many businesses have had to shut down one or two days a week because they simply didn't have the staff to do the job.

While it seems like the situation has improved a bit, you can still drive around Montana and see all kinds of businesses with signs out front saying "Now Hiring" In fact, several of those positions are offering high wages when compared to other states.

So with all of that, it would be safe to assume that Montana ranks near the top when it comes to job availability, right?

Well, you know what they say about people that assume.  According to Wallethub, who just came out with their 2022's Best and Worst States for Jobs, Montana is closer to the bottom than the top.

Out of the 50 states, Montana ranks 39th. Maybe you're wondering what factors go into deciding where each state ranks. WalletHub took a look at the job market and the economic environment as the two key factors. Montana ranks 29th in the job market category and 39th in the economic environment category.

A couple of Montana's neighbors make the Top 5 list of states with the most job opportunities with both North Dakota and Washington coming in at number 3 and number 5.

So what is the solution to the problem? How can Montana continue to grow and be an economic leader? Experts will debate back and forth on what the answer is, however, one thing is for sure until housing prices fall, Montana businesses won't be able to pay enough for folks to live here comfortably.
