Minor league baseball, where you can see future pro players get their roots started.

There have been several professional ball players who got their start right here in Montana playing for teams such as the Billings Mustangs, Missoula Osprey and the Great Falls Voyagers.

Could we see Bozeman get a minor league affiliate? With the growing population and the need for more summer entertainment, this is a real possibility.

The two immediate issues are where will the team come from and where will they play?

The Pioneer League, which is Rookie Advanced in the minor league system, has eight teams, so either expansion or one of the current teams moving to Bozeman would work. It's happened before with the team in Helena moving to Colorado Springs last year.

The real question is if we get one of these teams where will they play? The short term answer would be Heroes Park at the Gallatin County Fairgrounds but they would share the field with the Bozeman Bucks. Scheduling games could be tough.

Minor league baseball games are a blast. They are community oriented and people get to see guys starting their first step towards being in the majors.

So, would you support a minor league baseball team in Bozeman? Let us know what you think.
