Having a meal outside in good weather is one of my favorite things to do. Thankfully, the Bozeman area has some really good options to eat and drink outside and we asked the pros (locals) where they like to go.

The good news is that we have more options than ever to dine al fresco in the valley. Some are fancy and some are super casual. Diversity is a great thing when it comes to patios and outdoor space.

FOOD TRUCK PLAZA ON NORTH 7TH AVENUE: This is a super convenient addition to the North 7th Avenue corridor. On the 500 block of North 7th, you'll find a makeshift plaza of good food trucks with seating. It ain't fancy but they're budget-friendly and very tasty.

BOZEMAN SPIRITS DISTILLERY (121 West Main Street, downtown Bozeman): If you want a local cocktail, with local booze, made by talented locals in the heart of downtown Bozeman, Bozeman Spirits Distillery is your joint. It's a great place any time of year, but their little patio is a social hub in nice weather. Bonus: it gets shadier as the afternoon gets later.

SIDEWALL PIZZA (207 West Olive, Emerson Cultural Center): Located inside the funky Emerson, Sidewall Pizza has outdoor space on the southeast side of the building underneath big trees. They have beer and wine if you'd like an adult beverage.

FRESCO CAFE (317 East Mendenhall, downtown Bozeman): Tucked away along Bozeman Creek on East Mendenhall is a Bozeman gem...the Fresco Cafe. The food is incredible, the wine list impressive and they have a tidy little outdoor patio in the front.

PLONK! BACK PATIO (29 East Main Street, downtown Bozeman): If it's hot and you don't want to be in the sun, the back patio at Plonk! in downtown is a 'cool' option. It's a wine bar with a full bar option and good food. Have a full meal or a charcuterie board. Perfect for catching up with friends.

GRANTREE INN/THE CLUB TAVERN & GRILL (1325 North 7th Avenue): This might be the best deck at a 'sports bar' ever. Since it's attached to the Best Western, the hours are vast. Inside or out, The Club is a reliable choice and if you can sit outside on their deck...even better.

BLACKSMITH ITALIAN (290 West Kagy Boulevard): If you're on the south side of town, Blacksmith is an excellent choice for a nice dinner. Currently, they're open for dinner 5pm to 9pm Tuesday through Saturday, but check their website as that may change in the summer months.

LIVINGSTON, MONTANA BONUS! THE FRY HOUSE (1106 West Park, Livingston, MT): "Tucked away from the wind behind Pony Express Lube Center and across from Yellowstone Sporting Goods in The Yellowstone Gateway Mall." Find yourself in Livingston and need a yummy food truck? This is the highly recommended joint by a trusted listener.

We're always open to more suggestions for outdoor dining in Bozeman and the surrounding area. Let's make a 'part 2' asap!
