Belgrade and State Differ on Speed Study for West Main Street

The Belgrade News is reporting that the city of Belgrade and the Montana Department of Transportation are at odds over a recent speed study for West Main Street.

The Montana Department of Transportation's model is more based on moving traffic as quickly as possible, whereas the Belgrade model is more about safety.

The area of W. Main Street is has a lot of activity planned. Including new subdivisions, businesses and more.

With the growth rate of the Gallatin Valley, the Montana Department of Transportation just wants things to move quickly and make traffic not a slow nightmare.

This is an ongoing discussion with the MDT and Belgrade and we could see even more changes in the future.
