As COVID-19 cases continue to rise throughout Gallatin County, local hospitals and healthcare professionals are preparing for the worst.

On Saturday, October 31, the Gallatin City-County Health Department reported that another Gallatin County resident has passed away from complications due to COVID-19.

According to the health department, the person was a woman in her 90s and was a resident of a long-term care facility who died last week at her residence. Gallatin City-County Health Department received the official death certificate this week that attributed the death to COVID-19 and other significant health conditions.

Every COVID-19 related death is a tragic reminder of the importance of remaining diligent in avoiding crowds, social distancing, wearing face coverings in public, washing our hands, and staying home when sick.

The death reported on Saturday was the third death this week in Gallatin County as cases continue to surge. On Friday morning, Gallatin County broke a single day new cases record with 138 new confirmed cases. While most of the new cases reported are in the 20-29 age group, the reported deaths have been mostly elderly residents.

Statewide, 375 total deaths have been reported, according to information released Saturday by the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services.
