10 Cool Bozeman Area Events This Week: Rivers, BBQ, Dance, Ghosts

WHOAH, there's a lot! The temps have dropped to a normal level so lets get out there and have some fun this week around the Gallatin Valley. (Many events are FREE!) Lots of guests are still in town so let's show 'em a good time.

Wednesday, August 25th: Explore Local : Be Bear Aware - (Glen Lake North Pavilion, 830 Manley Road Bozeman) Starts at 6pm. "Learn about bear safety in the mountains. We'll cover bear avoidance safety techniques while hiking and camping as well as in residential areas. How to distinguish the difference between black and grizzly bears. And how to properly deploy bear spray. Hosted by Mountain Girl.

Thursday, August 26th: Streamline Annual BBQ and 15 Years of Service Celebration - (32 South Tracy, Bozeman) Starts at 11:30am. Hosted by HRDC. Come enjoy a free and delicious lunch at the HRDC main office building parking lot.

Thursday, August 26th: Annual Makerspace BBQ at the Bozeman Makerspace - Happening 6:30pm to 9:30pm. (5350 Love Lane, west of Bozeman) $5/plate suggested donation. Live music from The Fog. Egg Drop competition (Kids entry under 12 free!) Lawn Dice Golf (Tournament) Over-sized NES controller.

Friday, August 27th: Murders, Madams, and Mediums: Bozeman's Dark Side - a walking tour hosted by The Extreme History Project. Happening 7pm to 8pm. Tickets are just $12. Learn all the weird stories about Bozeman's odder, darker history.

Saturday, August 28th: Annual Lower Madison River Clean Up - Happening 9am to 1pm. Let's make the river we love, BETTER, this weekend. Hosted by Madison Gallatin Trout Unlimited. "All volunteers should meet at the Warm Springs Access at 9:00 AM for a brief safety talk, clean up directions, paperwork, and raffle tickets. We are again encouraging a WALK-ONLY event." Saturday, August 28th: WORKSHOP WITH MOVEMENT4MOVEMENTS - at Story Mill. FREE event. Happening 10am to 1pm. Free dance and movement therapy workshop. "This event is open to all ages and abilities. No dance experience is required. Wear comfortable clothes you can move in and bring a water bottle and snack."

Saturday, August 28th: Science Carnival at the Montana Science Center - (2744 West Main, Bozeman) Happening 2pm to 7pm. NOTE: Tickets on sale now for three times: $15 per person or $50 for a family of 4+ (2 - 4pm, 4 - 6pm, 5 - 7pm). Science demonstrations, food trucks, popcorn, cotton candy, lemonade and beverages, along with a silent auction.

Sunday, August 29th: Ghosts of Bozeman’s Past: Historic Sunset Hills Cemetery - a walking tour hosted by The Extreme History Project. Happening 4pm to 5pm. Tickets are just $12. Learn about the life and death of Bozeman's most famous residents of yesteryear.

Sunday, August 29th: From Tents to Town: Bozeman's Historic Main Street - a walking tour hosted by The Extreme History Project. Happening 1pm to 2pm. Tickets are just $12. "Once a gathering place for the local indigenous peoples’ tribes, Bozeman also served a vital role during the 1860s gold rush. Enjoy the stories of the colorful characters like John Bozeman, Daniel Rouse, Nelson Story and architect Fred Willson."

Sunday, August 29th: Bark to School Photos at Dee-O-Gee - (2051 Oak Street, Bozeman) Happening Noon to 3pm. Bark to School Photobooth to commemorate your d-o-g's first day of school!
