In high school there was almost nothing more exciting than a school fight. It starts with a buzz of murmuring, then a frenzy breaks out as a swarm of bobbling backpacks rush to the center of the quad to see the brawl go down. The only thing that would make that refreshing break from youthful ennui even more thrilling is if that fight was between teachers. And thus, we have Fist Fight.

The new comedy from director Richie Keen (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) stars Ice Cube and Charlie Day as rival high school teachers. It’s the last day of the school year and Ice Cube’s Ron Strickland challenges Day’s Andy Campbell to an old fashioned fight in the school’s parking lot. Soon after word spreads via social media – honestly I sort of wish this movie was called #TeacherFight instead – and it becomes the event of the year. There’s also cameos from Tracey Morgan, Jillian Bell, Dean Norris, and Christina Hendricks with a switchblade (can we get a spinoff with Hendricks, please?). Here’s the full synopsis:

On the last day of the year, mild-mannered high school English teacher Andy Campbell (Day) is trying his best to keep it together amidst senior pranks, a dysfunctional administration and budget cuts that put jobs on the line. But things go from bad to worse when he accidentally crosses his much tougher and deeply feared colleague, Ron Strickland (Cube), who challenges Campbell to an old-fashioned throw down after school. News of the fight spreads like wildfire and ends up becoming the very thing this school, and Campbell, needed.

I can think of a couple teachers I’d wouldn't mind watching throw down in the parking lot, because you know there was some administrative beef going on after school. Check out the film’s poster below. Fist Fight opens February 17, 2017.
