Where to Find Montana’s Best Disc Golf Courses [MAP]

You could make an excellent disc golf road trip across all of Montana. The map of courses in Montana has grown quite a bit over the years and you've got a surprising number of options.

Back in the early 90s, we had just a couple of marked courses in the entire state. College kids who loved playing disc golf had it tough. For folks in the Bozeman area, it was the old (but fantastic) Bohart Ranch course beyond Bridger Bowl or create your own and hope you didn't get in trouble.

BILLINGS, MT: Diamond X Disc Golf Course (6732 Molt Rd, Billings, MT) This is a rugged course, but very well-liked. It's challenging, rocky, has snakes, and you should bring plenty of water. Definitely worth a little research if you've never been there. NOTE: 2022 rock slide has affected this course significantly.

FORT PECK, MT: The Fortress Disc Golf Course (off Yellowstone Road in Fort Peck, south of Nashua, MT) This might be the gem of Montana. 2 courses. Very well liked course, funky location and real events are hosted here. Worth your time if you're into an old fashioned road trip.

PRAY, MT: Chico Hot Springs Disc Golf Course (33 Dance Hall Hill Rd, Pray, MT) Chico's 18 hole disc golf course was born in the summer of 2018. Chico has so much to offer anyway, playing disc golf here is a complete added bonus. Play, shower then soak? Hell yeah. "Sporting uphill, downhill, blind, long and short holes, this incredibly scenic course is situated at the base of Emigrant Peak. Mark “Doc” Watson, local disc golf legend, designed the course to appeal to professionals and beginners alike."

BOZEMAN, MT: Rose Park Disc Golf Course (2420 Tschache Lane, Bozeman, MT) This in-town course gets an "A+" for convenience. It's not the most challenging course you've ever played, but it has good baskets and is well-maintained. GREAT FALLS, MT: West Bank Disc Golf Course (1600 4th St NE, Great Falls, MT) Another urban course that gets an "A" for convenience. This course is located right next to the fairgrounds.

GREAT FALLS, MT: Warden Park Disc Golf Course (101-199 13th Avenue South, Great Falls, MT) "Nice disc golf course. Good views of great falls throughout. It's definitely a little tough to figure out the layout as many of the holes are hidden behind trees or behind hills."

CLANCY, MT: Sheep Mountain Disc Golf Course (59 Sheep Mountain Rd, Clancy, MT) "Holes could be markED a little better but a great place to go." Directions per DGCourseReview: "From Helena; head south on I-15 to Clancy. Head west on the park lake access road, turn right on Sheep Mountain Road, take a left at the fork, and follow road to wooden log parking lot. 1st tee is just to the west."
