Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks

Since Mother Nature hasn't figured out that it's supposed to be winter, we might as well get out and enjoy the trails!

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks must cut its wolf trapping season back to six weeks across the western two-thirds of the state.

In regards to animals in Montana, the Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks website has explicit instructions:

Any adult who has ever taken kids fishing can attest to the thrills and excitement those youngsters get when they reel one in.

It's 59 miles of the most cherished stretch of river in America, with one put-in and one take-out. About 1 in 10 people who applied for a private float permit for the Smith River got one for 2023. Nearly 40% of the float permits for The Smith were awarded to nonresidents of Montana. Do we have a problem?

The judge's ruling doesn't resolve the lawsuit but does allow wolf hunting to proceed this winter.

It should be mandatory that government organizations lighten up a little bit, especially when you're talking about snakes and spiders.

With the oh-so-slow transition from summer to fall looming, the inevitable warnings of toxins in Montana lakes start to "bloom."

If you had to think of the most popular vehicle in Montana, you would probably lean towards an F-150 or Ram 1500. But, in all fairness, the vehicle of choice for many Montanans is a Subaru Outback. You cannot throw a rock in Missoula without hitting a Subaru...

You'll have to do a lot more work these days to get the hell away from other people in Montana, but IT IS still possible. We just have to adjust our destinations and find legal lands or State Parks that aren't at the top of everyone's list.

The closure will remain in place until the dam is repaired and flows are fully restored to the Madison River.
