While the United States takes measures such as abstinence initiatives, sexual education and sometimes criticizing Bristol Palin as a scare tactic to prevent teenage pregnancy, some schools in the UK are taking a much more direct route. A report from the British National Health Service announced that many girls were given long-term contraceptives at school.

A couple of Canadian high school students, Matthew Ho and Asad Muhammad, coordinated a space mission for the smallest known astronaut – a LEGO man. The two used a weather balloon, Styrofoam and cameras to capture it all in HD Video.

While Down syndrome student Brett Bowden rarely got on the field, he was popular member of Hobbton High School’s football team due to his enthusiasm and positive attitude. Everybody expected Bowden to be on the team again for the 2011 season, but, in a controversial decision, the state of North Carolina has ruled him ineligible.

In 1957, nine black students were denied entry at the illegally racially-segregated Little Rock Central High School in Arkansas, setting off a firestorm that became a watershed moment in the civil rights movement. Now, a young woman claims another school in the state is still discriminating against minority students.
