First ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ Reactions Say It’s a Slow Start, But a Fun Blast With Emotion
Solo: A Star Wars Story doesn’t hit theaters for another two weeks, but the spinoff had its world premiere in Los Angeles on Thursday night. Despite being plagued by behind-the-scenes drama (you know, Lucasfilm firing their directors and hiring Ron Howard mid-way through production), the reactions were largely positive with a few consistent criticisms.
A handful of film critics who got to see the young Han Solo origin story said the film has a slow build and struggles to find its footing at first. But once it lands, it takes off for a fun adventure full of emotion. It also sounds like we’ll have a handful of performances competition for MVP between Donald Glover’s Lando, Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s droid, and Thandie Newton’s Val.
