Japanese Pepsi Could Actually Make You Skinnier
First there was soda, carbonated sugar water that was sure to expand your waistline. Then there was "diet" soda, which didn't add any calories to the equation but was sweetened with chemicals that may not be so great for you.
Now, in Japan, there is something called Pepsi Special. This drink is so chock-full of chemicals -- mainly indigestible dextrin -- that there are claims it can actually make you skinnier.Dextrin is dietary fiber which blocks fat and makes you less hungry. In doing so, it also makes you more regular and less bloated.
Sadly, the drink will never be available in America because the FDA bans soda that is reinforced with nutrients, such as dietary fiber. So Americans will just keep getting fatter and fatter. (Although there will be no need for a massive increase in our number of public bathrooms.)
