It seems that buying a Wii U secondhand can net you downloads of digital titles that were previously purchased on the machine.

There's no official word on whether or not this is applicable to all pre-owned Wii U consoles, but a thread on NeoGAF popped up, with gamers claiming that they could download games that were tied to the consoles. Whether or not this was due to accounts not being wiped after a system format is not clear.

But some of the gamers are claiming that even after creating a new accounts on the pre-owned consoles, they were able to download any previously-purchased game for free.

And if the games are tethered to the consoles on which they were purchased, then that's bad news for the previous owners if they ever get a new console and want to download their old games.
