When you think of the largest breweries in Montana, this one might have slipped our minds.
Montana loves their craft beer. Big Sky Country ranks Top 3 in the country for breweries per capita. It doesn't matter if you live in a town of a hundred people or a major city because you will likely find a brewery nearby.
Most Montanans have their favorite brewery and will go after a long day of work to enjoy a tasty craft beer.
Craft beer is a massive industry in Montana. Every grocery store and gas station has sections dedicated to local craft beers. The bigger the brewery, the more likely you can find them in stores all over Montana.
Only a handful of large craft breweries in Montana sell their beer statewide. These breweries are in Missoula, Bozeman, and Billings. A few smaller breweries sold their beer statewide, like Philipsburg, but it's rare.
You might be surprised to learn that one Montana craft brewery is one of the largest in America, and the answer might be wild.
Forbes announced the Brewers Association's Top 50 Largest Craft Brewing Companies in America, which included Sierra Nevada in California and Deschutes in Oregon, but the Montana brewery is interesting.
At #40 on the list is Montucky Cold Snacks out of Bozeman.
Montucky Cold Snacks started operations in Great Falls, then moved to Bozeman. The beer is light, delicious, and perfect for any outdoor activity.
Montucky Cold Snacks helps support local nonprofits with part of their beer sales.
We didn't expect to see Montucky on this list. We figured Kettlehouse or Big Sky Brewing would be one of the largest craft breweries in America, but this was a pleasant surprise.
Montucky doesn't get the respect they deserve. They make a fantastic lager that is a great way to enjoy the slopes during the winter or help cool off while camping.
