College football fans are waiting for the summer to be over so they can cheer on their favorite teams this fall. We are less than three months away from the season start and everyone is making plans for which games they will be attending.
In Montana, there are two universities with prominent football programs. Montana State and the Unversity of Montana are perennial favorites to make the playoffs and favorites to win the National Championship.
The Brawl of the Wild has been called one of the best rivalry games in the college football landscape.
College football has seen some wild changes over the past few years. These moves include NIL deals, teams moving conferences, and many FCS teams moving to the FBS.
FCS has seen prominent teams like Appalachian State, James Madison, and Kennesaw State move to the FBS system for more money and exposure for their schools.
Why am I bringing this up? The college football landscape is moving fast, and the Bobcats and the Griz might have to make a hard decision.
Could Montana State and the University of Montana move to the FBS system? We wouldn't be surprised. They are two of the most popular teams in FCS and get nationally televised games every year.
Power Five conferences have poached players from both schools in recent years, thanks to the new transfer portal rules. If Montana State and the University of Montana want that to change, they might have to make a call.
If this did happen, both universities should be a package deal to move to a new conference. They can keep the rivalry and have the support of Montana.
