When people are traveling around Montana, they will typically rent out hotels. The alternatives are either VRBO or Airbnb to find rooms or households that fit within their budget. The other option is camping in an RV, trailer, or tent. What if you want the feel of camping but have a house to hang out in?

If you don't know, Recreation.gov is a wonderful sight to see what the United States Forest Service offers. There are campsites, but the real prize is the fire lookout cabins.
These fire lookout cabins are typically near peaks of mountains and deep in the backcountry. Getting to these cabins might take a little work to get to these locations, but they are worth the trip.
Of course, as always, you can't please everyone.
The Garnet Mountain Fire Lookout is close to Bozeman and beloved by many locals who have stayed there in the summer or fall. Some folks have rented out these cabins and got a little more than they bargained for.
