So I did something life-changing this week. After years of thinking and talking about it, I decided to get rid of my full-time glasses for good, thanks to my friends over at Vance Thompson Vision here in Bozeman.

I first started wearing glasses in 3rd grade. I was struggling in school and my teacher told my parents that either I wasn't the brightest kid, or I was having trouble seeing. (Turns out it was both.) So off to the eye doctor we went. A couple of weeks later, I was in what would turn out to be a four-decade relationship with eyeglasses.

I wore contacts off and on for a while. However, I always found them to be a bit of a chore; there was the putting them in and taking them out, the cleaning them on a regular basis, and I just usually ended up going back to my trusty eyeglasses so I didn't have to deal with all the hassle.

The truth is, I just wanted to be done with all of it.  I wanted to be able to wake up in the morning and not have to worry about putting on glasses or putting in contacts. I wanted to be able to go and buy sunglasses that I liked and not have to worry about getting a prescription.  I was tired of fogged-up lenses depending on the weather situation, and I was ready to break up with glasses and contacts.

So I called Vance Thompson Vision.

Vance Thompson Vision specializes in all sorts of different eye surgery. From Lasik and cataract to cornea, glaucoma, and even vision research. The team of professionals at Vance Thompson Vision will completely put your mind at ease—they certainly did mine. They are highly trained, with years of experience, and they work with the best technology available. Plus, they have multiple Montana locations.

I mean, let's be honest, when someone is going to do surgery on your eyes, that might be a bit worrisome and you'll probably have some questions, right? I certainly did, and they took the time to answer each one of them.

This week, I went in and had my procedure done and it was a breeze. Dr. Swan is my doctor and not only is he one of the nicest people you'll ever meet, but he is also an amazing eye surgeon. The procedure was quick (right around 10 minutes) and the next day there was no pain or discomfort and I could actually walk around without glasses and see clearly.
