October is Domestic Violence Month. You may see signs around town to help bring awareness to this extremely difficult topic. But it is real, it is more common than one would hope, and it could be happening to you, your closest friend, family member, neighbor or coworker.

A group called the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence was started in 1987. This group has developed other tools within it, to help victims of Domestic Violence. There website NCADV, has an incredible amount of sources for victims to use, share stories on, and relatable topics to the victim/survivors.

There motto says so much about the incredible organization.

"The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV)'s mission is to lead, mobilize and raise our voices to support efforts that demand a change of conditions that lead to domestic violence such as patriarchy, privilege, racism, sexism, and classism. We are dedicated to supporting survivors and holding offenders accountable and supporting advocates."

Montana has lots of helpful resources for victims of Domestic Violence along with other victim related crimes. We hate to think that this could be happening right here in our own state, let alone our own city or town. But it does and the numbers of victims are not getting any lower. What is getting larger is the help available. That is a blessing.

If you are a victim of domestic violence or know someone who is, there is help. It can be scary to take the first steps to seeking help, but just know, Montana is here for you, for your family, for anyone seeking help.

The Community Support Center in Montana can be found HERE. This link will bring you to services they provide, ways to help, ways to report suspected domestic violence, and how to get your life back to what you deserve. Because YOU deserve to be HAPPY, to be HEALTHY, and to LOVE yourself again. From having previous experience at a Women's Shelter, I can tell you that most victims would put the hotline number in their phone as a "secret" name. Help is here. You are not alone.

To prepare yourself for a potential incident, always keep your vet's phone number handy, along with an after-hours clinic you can call in an emergency. The ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center also has a hotline you can call at (888) 426-4435 for advice.

Even with all of these resources, however, the best cure for food poisoning is preventing it in the first place. To give you an idea of what human foods can be dangerous, Stacker has put together a slideshow of 30 common foods to avoid. Take a look to see if there are any that surprise you.
