MHSA Announces Changes for Postseason
Well we should be thankful that high school sports are getting any type of postseason after this crazy year we have had.
406 MT Sports is reporting that the Montana High School Association has decided there will be some changes this year to the postseason format and events for most fall sports.
The biggest changes for any sport this fall will be for volleyball. They usually have all four classes from AA to C compete for state at the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse in Bozeman but with COVID-19, things will have to change.
Every class level will have to determine whether they will have single elimination or double elimination brackets for certain sports and where the events will be held.
High school football and soccer playoffs are largely unaffected because the postseason format will always be held by the higher seed at the their home field. So that's taken care of.
Volleyball with have to determine their playoff format and destinations. Whether they will hold it at one site or go with what soccer and football does and play at the higher seeds home place. That could be a little difficult due to that might involve a lot of traveling from the lower seeds which would be costly.
The big thing is at least the Montana High School Association is allowing a postseason to happen especially when we had the whole spring sports season cancelled. They are doing their best to plan out the postseason for all fall sports and to make sure all these student athletes are able to compete.
Just to let everyone know for fans to attend these events, it depends on the county and their health regulations.
