Marvel’s Netflix ‘Defenders’ Casts Sigourney Weaver as Main Villain

We’ve barely recovered from Luke Cage and snippets of Iron Fist shown at New York Comic-Con, and already The Defenders have a big bad. Get your power-loaders ready, as Alien star Sigourney Weaver will menace the street-level foursome as The Defenders’ main villain!

The announcement came at the very end of a massive Marvel Netflix panel, which included both major Iron Fist footage and Punisher news, culminating in the stage arrival of Charlie Cox, Krysten Ritter, Mike Colter and Finn Jones. TV boss Jeph Loeb confirmed Sigourney Weaver as the Defenders villain, but Marvel isn’t identifying the character just yet.

Weaver becomes the first new addition for the team-up series from Daredevil showrunners Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez, set to begin production later this year. Returning characters so far include Luke Cage’s Simone Missick, Daredevil’s Elden Henson and Scott Glenn, and Jessica Jones’ Eka Darville.
