Because who wants to wait for Comic-Con 2017 for scoop on Luke Cage Season 2? Harlem’s hero has officially found his next foe, as Netflix reveals The Night Of and Insecure alum Mustafa Shakir and Gabrielle Dennis will play a familiar pair of Marvel characters next season.

Per the official announcement, Shakir will play Bushmaster alter-ego John McIver, described as “a natural leader, brimming with charisma, whose mission is focused on Harlem and vengeance.” Dennis will take the role of Tilda Johnson (Nightshade in the books), described as “a brilliant, holistic doctor with a complicated history in Harlem where, as much as she tries to stay far from trouble, it seems to always find her.”

The announcement also confirms that Simone Missick will be back as Misty Knight (not that we doubted it), along with Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple, Alfre Woodard as Mariah Dillard, and Theo Rossi as ‘Shades.’ Said showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker:

I can’t wait for audiences to see the compelling paces we put both Mustafa and Gabrielle through. From the moment you see each of them on screen, I feel they will be powerful additions to the world of Marvel and Harlem’s Luke Cage.

Production on Season 2 of Marvel’s Luke Cage is already underway in New York City, so stay tuned for the latest from Comic-Con 2017 in the meantime.
