Even though the traffic might not as busy this year, you should still be careful.

The Gallatin County Sheriff's Office released a statement about the upcoming Labor Day Weekend holiday. They wanted to let everyone know that even though 2020 won't be like usual years, all travelers need to be careful and plan for a sober ride wherever you might be going.

The Gallatin County Sheriff's know that you want to enjoy your three day weekend but do it responsibly.

So during the Labor Day Weekend, there will be an increase of patrols from now through the middle of September.

The went on to say that 38% of fatalities during the Labor Day Weekend are from drunk drivers. Those stats were from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The Gallatin County Sheriff's Office also want to remind you that if you get pulled over while drunk driving, you can face some serious consequences including:

  • a DUI
  • up to $10,000 fine
  • possible jail time
  • having your license revoked.

Montanans are encouraged to take part and report any suspected impaired driving they might see. All you have to do is call 911 and report what you are seeing.

Labor Day Weekend in Montana is usually one of the busiest times of the year and with people eagerly wanting to get away from the COVID-19 pandemic, it will probably be even more busy this year. Please, be respectful and have a sober ride. Montana is one of the worst states for drunk driving and drunk driving deaths.
