Have Breakfast at the Northern Pacific Beanery in Livingston, Montana

I spent last weekend in Gallatin County for the Fusion Fight League matches in Bozeman.  The event was well received and the Fight for a Cause was heartwarming.

The motel stay in nearby Livingston was awful.  Will write about that later.

The next morning, on only four hours sleep, I needed a solid breakfast.  Found it at the Northern Pacific Beanery, located at 108 W Park St. in Livingston.

When you walk in, set your clock back 80 years.  Old-fashioned lunch counter, period lighting and ceiling fans, and strong coffee.

While working on my article, I relished a meat lover's omelet, with hash browns and a pancake.

This 2-3 egg omelet is stuffed with ham, sausage and bacon, with only a hint of cheese.  It's a solid protein, stick-to-the-ribs meal meant to fuel the body for the day.  Hash browns grilled just right.  The light and fluffy pancake need only the butter to make the flavor in my mouth.  This is one of those meals where Tabasco or ketchup would interfere with the taste.

Actually ate the whole meal, which I rarely do.  Told the waitress I won't need another meal under lunch tomorrow.

That breakfast was the best part of my weekend in Livingston.

Dear Reader, when you are traveling through our great state, please take any opportunity to dine in local, small-business cafes and restaurants, like the Northern Pacific Beanery.  A good true meal does not come out of a drive-thru window.  Whatever destination, adventure, or trip home can wait one hour for a wholesome, sit-down meal.
