For 75 years, there's been a motel in the heart of a Montana city that has held fast to being historic, funky, and authentic. It's not fancy, but it is unique, has a great restaurant, and is on the National Register of Historic Places.

In a time when most of Montana seems to be building brand new, fairly generic hotels all over the place - this classic motel hangs it's hat on wood paneling and carpet with cattle brands on it. It couldn't be more 'old Montana'.

Open since 1950, "The Dude Rancher Lodge has provided a relaxing atmosphere for guests traveling to the Billings area. Our family-friendly property features 56 comfortable rooms that are equipped with all the comforts of home."

The Dude Rancher Lodge has a cool, full service restaurant that serves breakfast and lunch. The restaurant is fondly known as the "Stirrup Coffee Shop". The space continues with the western motif, making the whole space thematic.

There are also some haunted rooms at The Dude Rancher Lodge for those who are interested in the paranormal. (Don't worry - most of the rooms have no such reputation.) Travelers are fond of the western themed, old-school motel in the heart of Billings.

Although many improvements have been made to this historic motel over the years, it is still described as: "Known as "Billings' most unique motel", it was built in 1950 with a Hollywood-western style theme inside and out with many custom features, most original to the building.
