Officer Injured, Suspect Dead in Belgrade Shooting
According to the Belgrade Police Department, officers were called to a disturbance on Crockett Street around 5:18 p.m. on October 27. During the response, shots were fired, and one Belgrade officer was struck. The officer was rushed to a nearby hospital, where they remain in stable condition. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities confirmed that there is no ongoing threat to the public, and the area has been secured while investigators work to determine what led up to the shooting. The Montana Department of Justice has taken over the investigation, a standard procedure in incidents involving law enforcement use of force.
Belgrade Police Chief Dustin Lensing expressed gratitude to the community for its patience as the investigation continues and thanked neighboring agencies for their assistance, including the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office, Bozeman Police Department, Montana Highway Patrol, Central Valley Fire/Rescue, and the Montana Department of Justice.
