Growing up in Missouri, we hated Kansas.

Not only were our Universities huge rivals, but the disdain for each other went back further. It started during the Civil War as the states had opposing views, which ended in a town or two being burnt to the ground.

Luckily, that doesn't happen these days, but it doesn't mean that certain states don't have a big dislike for other states. For example, according to data, Montana has a state they're not overly fond of.

Many state rivalries across the country have to do with geography, schools, and history. However, when it comes to Montana's most disliked state it doesn't have anything to do with geography or school, and the history is relatively recent.

Which state does Montana dislike the most?

It won't come as a surprise to many that California is the state that Montanans dislike the most. However, what might be a little shocking is that it isn't just Montana that dislikes California, it looks like most of the west can't stand them.

According to the social site CHC Travels California is the most disliked state in the country.

Not only is Montana on the list, but so are Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, Nevada, and Arizona. Why? Well, probably for the same reason. California transplants. For whatever reason, the theory is that Californians get tired of California and decide to move someplace new only to try and make it like...California.

I'm sure you can see the frustration in this.

While Montana is made up of transplants from around the country, those from California seem to get the most hate. Over the last few years, folks from the West Coast have moved to Montana which has caused housing prices to skyrocket and that has resulted in some pretty bitter feelings.

It also seems that many of our West Coast friends might be a little more "progressive" than folks living in The Treasure State.

Now, I don't know if that's fair or not, but I can tell you that if you plan on moving here, change your license plates, embrace all of the local customs, and don't have conversations that include "Back home, we did it this way..."

Oh, and if you're wondering which state California likes the least. That would be Texas. Which state do you like the least? Let us know by sending us a message to our app.
