Which movies have been filmed in Montana?
Far And Away- the 1992 film which starred Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman is about folks leaving Ireland to come to America. The cinematography is quite spectacular and the storyline is great as well.
Little Big Man - the 1970 film stars Hollywood heavyweights Dustin Hoffman and Faye Dunnaway.
A River Runs Through It - One of my favorite movies of all time, this 1992 film, while set around the Missoula area, was filmed across the state, including many scenes in Livingston. The film is a story of family, fly-fishing, and the struggles both bring.
Supercell - A 2023 movie starring Ann Heche, Skeet Ulrich, and Alec Baldwin is a film about the child of a legendary storm chaser who leaves home to follow his fathers footsteps.
Forrest Gump - The 1994 blockbuster in which Tom Hanks won his second Academy Award has Big Sky roots. While only a scene or two was filmed in Montana, it was a pivotal scene. Part of the legendary run that Forrest takes was filmed in Montana, including the scene of him running across the old stone bridge, which is the St. Mary's entrance to Glacier National Park.
While several other movies make the list of being filmed in Montana, these are a few of the bigger ones. What's your favorite movie either filmed or based in Montana? Let us know by sending us a message on our app.
