Montana: How Many People Are Traveling On The 4th of July?
Can you believe the 4th of July is almost here?! I swear this year’s flying by faster than ever before. Ready or not, it’s time to celebrate America’s 249th birthday, and you know what that means—grills will be hot, flags will be flying, and people will be traveling all over Montana to celebrate.
But before you hit the road with your red, white, and blue gear, there is a pretty serious heads-up to keep in mind. A new study from Future Bail Bonds analyzed fatal crash data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and found that Montana is the deadliest state to drive on the 4th of July. Yikes.

So how many people are actually traveling this year on the 4th of July? According to AAA, a record-breaking 72.2 million Americans are expected to travel at least 50 miles or more away from their homes over the holiday weekend.
Here’s the breakdown of travel across the U.S.A on Independence Day
By Car: 61.6 million (up 2.2% from last year)
By Air: 5.84 million (up 1.4%)
Other (bus, train, cruise): 4.78 million (up 7.4%)

The spike is likely because the 4th lands on a Friday this year, making it a perfect three-day weekend opportunity. So, whether you’re heading to the lake, a parade, or a backyard BBQ—drive smart, plan ahead, and stay safe out there. Let’s keep the fireworks in the sky and not on the highway.
