Where does Montana rank for states facing online danger?

According to one source, the youth of Montana are among the safest in the country when it comes to avoiding online dangers. Montana ranks 49 out of 50 and the only state safer than Montana is Alaska.

Manhattan Mental Health Counseling took data from each state to compile the list of the most dangerous states for kids online. So how did they determine the ranking? They used the following 5 factors:

  • Percentage of Children Who Have Been Cyberbullied: 20%
  • Percentage of Children Who Cyberbully Others: 20%
  • Percentage of Children Who Have Sent a Sext: 20%
  • Percentage of Children Who Have Received a Sext: 20%
  • Student to School Psychologist Ratio: 20%

They determined the following for Montana.

  • Percentage of Children Who Have Been Cyberbullied: 44 percent
  • Percentage of Children Who Cyberbully Others: 9 percent
  • Percentage of Children Who Have Sent a Sext: 9 percent
  • Percentage of Children Who Have Received a Sext: 10 percent
  • Student to School Psychologist Ratio: 1567 to 1
