
Montana Ranked Among The Worst States For Winter
Even though we're in the middle of the summer, winter will be here before you know it.
I know, I know, no one wants to think about snow, or winds, or ice, or special tires. However, we all know that winter in Montana can be long and brutal. We hold the record for the biggest temperature swing in the country's history, as well as the biggest snowflake on record. (15 inches back in 1887) Not to mention that in some years, winter can be 6 months long.

While some folks look forward to the winter months, those who are new to the state might be in for a bit of a shock, especially if they're coming from warm-weather states. Here in Montana, we're built different. School is rarely called off, and folks deal with the elements and the challenges that come with them.
One of the most difficult things for folks to get used to is the cold.
The truth is, cold kills. When you start getting down below zero for days at a time, it's enough to make folks second-guess their life choices. While Montana makes the Top 9 for the coldest states, it isn't even in the Top 5.
