Montana’s Other Big Football Game This Saturday

I know, I know, everyone is all prepared for the biggest football game of the year. Of course, we're talking about the Brawl of the Wild, which will see #3 Montana State University in Missoula take on #2 University of Montana.

It's Cat/Griz or Griz/Cats.

It's also one of the biggest rivalries West of the Mississippi, so big that a few years back, ESPN Gameday came to Bozeman to broadcast. Not only is this game a battle of two Top 3 teams, but it's also a battle to see who will be crowned the Big Sky Conference Champion.

Then, there is the other big game this Saturday.

If you head west on I-90 from Bozeman, you will drive about 20 minutes are so before you hit the town of Manhattan. Known for the Potato Festival and some of the best cinnamon rolls you'll ever have, this little Montana town is also home of the Manhattan Football Tigers, who just so happen to be in the State Title game for the 3rd year in a row

Their opponent? Well, it's the team that is located about 12 miles or so down the road.

This Saturday, at 1 pm, Manhattan will take on Three Forks Wolves to determine the State Championship in Football for Class B. Yep, it's the battle between the Tigers and the Wolves.

Both of these small Montana towns have all the charm you can ask for. They're both located right off the Interstate, they're both big into agriculture, and their players are homegrown. Yes, most of the state will be watching the game in Missoula; you can't get any more Montana than the game between Manhattan and Three Forks.

While I'm not in a position to pick one team over another, I'm not going to lie, making it to the State Title game three years in a row is no small feat. Throw in the fact that they have yet to win the game, well, that makes it pretty easy to cheer on the Tigers.

However, what about the Wolves? I mean, they played and beat some pretty tough teams to earn their spot in that game.

Either way, it's the best of Montana with two towns, two teams, and a whole lot of pride on the line this Saturday. While it might not mean as much to most Montanans as the Brawl of the Wild does, to those two Montana communities and the people that live there, it means everything.
