One of the things that I love about living in Montana is how dog friendly the state is.

My wife and I have two dogs, Fletcher and Finnegan, and they are totally like our kids. They sleep with us, they ride in the car when we run errands, and they follow us around everywhere we go.

Fletcher is a 6 year old Black Mouth Cur, which is what Old Yeller was in the book. He is a bit high strung and nervous. He barks at nothing and is super afraid of fireworks and thunder. Finnegan is a European Basset Hound and is just over a year and lives life to the fullest. He is a happy boy and it's his world and we're just living in it.

What is Montana's most searched breed of dog?

Of course, if you spend any time at one of the many Dog Parks across Montana you are likely to see all kinds of different breeds of dogs. However, which one is the most searched? Is it the Lab? The Golden? What about a Cattle Dog?

No, no, and no.

According to MetLife Pet Insurance, the most searched for dog in Montana isn't a retrievers, it's actually the Rhodesian Ridgeback. I have to tell you, I was pretty shocked by this. I know the breed has gained popularity in the last several years, but the most searched dog in Montana? Really?

Talking a look at the AKC website, they claim that the Rhodesian Ridgeback is an excellent family dog that does very well with children, however, they only do moderately ok with other dogs. The dog has origins in Africa were it was used to hunt lions.

It should be noted that if you are thinking about adding a Rhodesian Ridgeback to the family, they are very active and require lots of exercise. It's also mentioned that they are not a breed for a new dog owner.
