When did the fire start?
According to the Big Sky Fire Department, the fire started around 6:30 and was under control by 7:51. The Department released a statement regarding the fire:
"As the building was still under construction, the fire suppression systems had not yet been activated. However, the rapid response and decisive actions of the crews played a critical role in saving the majority of the structure. Two hotel room units were declared a total loss, with heavy smoke damage throughout the building and water damage to the first and second floors beneath the fire area. An interagency investigation team is currently working to determine the cause of the fire."
Several additional fire departments joined in fighting the fire, including firefighters from Yellowstone Mountain Club Fire, Central Valley Fire, Hyalite Fire, Bozeman Fire, and Gallatin Gateway Fire.
When completed The One And Only Resort will feature six different restaurants, a state-of-the-art spa, skiing, and several different outdoor activities for guests to enjoy during their stay. The resort is located on over 8,000 acres.
