And for many of us, there’s one warehouse-style retailer that hits all the marks.

From Billings to Bozeman to Helena, it’s the place you go for everything from rotisserie chickens to kayaks—and a $1.50 hot dog combo you can count on.

So when this retail giant quietly confirmed it’ll be turning off the lights statewide for an entire day, eyebrows definitely raised.

So what’s going on?

It turns out the closure is part of a long-standing company tradition: giving employees time off for major holidays.

This year, Easter Sunday falls on April 20, and all Montana Costco locations will be closed in observance.

That’s right—Costco is shutting its doors for the day across the Treasure State.

It’s one of just a handful of days the retailer closes all year, alongside Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day. Other chains, like Target, are following suit with similar closures this Easter.

So if you’ve got a Sunday shopping run in mind, you might want to hit the warehouse a little earlier this year. Consider it an extra reason to slow down, spend time with loved ones—and maybe savor that hot dog combo just a little longer.
