‘IT’ Extended Sneak Peek Creeping Into Theaters With ‘Annabelle: Creation’
If you head to your local theater next week to check out Annabelle: Creation, you’ll be treated to an extra serving — a small appetizer or horrors d’ouevres (sorry), if you will — of phobia-inducing terror. A special four-minute sneak peek of the new adaptation of Stephen King’s IT is reportedly set to screen before the Annabelle prequel, just in case you needed a side of creepy clown with your order of creepy doll.
According to Trailer Track, an extended sneak peek of IT is attached to next week’s screenings of Annabelle: Creation, which might give you that little extra shove you need to give the new horror prequel a chance. (Early word-of-mouth suggests you should, as several viewers have favorably compared it to Ouija: Origin of Evil — another horror prequel that was far better than its predecessor.)
Along with this news comes the new spot featured above, which repeats the photo slideshow bit from the trailer, but adds a delightfully sinister scene where Pennywise appears in the TV and gets a children’s choir (already borderline creepy) to chant “kill them all!” (100 percent creepy).
Directed by Andres Muschietti, IT features a cast that includes Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things) and Jaeden Lieberher (Midnight Special), with Bill Skarsgard as Pennywise the clown and creature performer Javier Botet as The Leper. Here’s the official synopsis:
When children begin to disappear in the town of Derry, Maine, neighborhood kids band together to square off against Pennywise, an evil clown whose history of murder and violence dates back for centuries.
IT doesn’t arrive until September 8, but you can catch the special sneak preview on August 11 when Annabelle: Creation hits theaters.
