Bozeman is growing at a rapid pace and we're seeing all kinds of new business come to town.  Of course, many of these are things that you would expect to see in an old cowboy town, but as Bozeman becomes more and more "Metropolitan".

With the influx of folks from both coasts, Bozeman is becoming a hot spot for "fancy" people. We're seeing more and more businesses that cater to that lifestyle. Having said all that, I would like to think that we're a long way away from this.

Professional Baby Namers.

.

Yep, you read that right.  Professional Baby Namers.  People that you actually pay money to name your kid.  Craziest idea ever, right?  Well, not only is it crazy, apparently, it's also lucrative.  So just how much are people making to name other people's kids?  Are you sitting down?  If not, you probably should be.  According to the New York Post, a professional baby name can make 10 grand per name, per kid.

Think about that for a moment, people are paying someone 10 thousand dollars to name their child.

My father would often say "Derek, some people just have more money than sense".  I would have to agree with him on this one. According to the article, the lady that does this for a living made well over six figures back in 2020. This is exactly the type of silly thing that one rich person does, then they tell their other rich friends, and next thing you know, their all doing it.

Listen, I understand that giving your kid the right name is an important thing.  I mean, you don't want to name them something that someone will make fun of later...but if between the two parents, you can't come up with a name, you might want to re-think having a kid.

On the other hand, it's expensive to live here in Bozeman and Montana and we certainly have our fair share of wealthy people that continue to move to the state.  I mean, if someone is good at marketing, could build a decent website, and put themselves out there, who knows? I certainly respect anyone that is out there making things happen.

Maybe a professional baby namer is exactly what this town needs?  Nah...I'm sorry, I just can't.
