Frontage Road Construction Begins Monday
Montana Department of Transportation will begin construction on the Frontage Road between Belgrade and Bozeman beginning Monday, March 25. The project will begin two miles east of the Bozeman Airport and end one mile west of Nelson Road. During the construction you can expect:
- One lane open in each direction
- Traffic temporarily reduced to one lane
- Reduced speed limit of 35 MPH
- Road work will occur during daylight hours (6 a.m. to 10 p.m.)
- Delays of 10 to 15 minutes
- Noise due to construction work
This construction will affect approximately two miles of the Frontage Road and is expected to be completed by fall of 2019. MDT will be making safety improvements with this project including:
- Adding 8 ft shoulders
- Adding turn lanes from both directions to Mountain View Subdivision
- Adding a center line with rumble strips
- Widen driving lanes to 12 feet
- Flattening of steep shoulders on the road side
- Replacing two culverts at Baxter Creek
