At long last, Marvel squirreled away our hopes and dreams with news that a New Warriors TV series was coming to Freeform, courtesy of Scrubs alum Kevin Biegel. We knew Squirrel Girl was in the mix, but meet the other Marvel heroes populating the team, and check out some teasery artwork.

The ten-episode series will follow young heroes with “powers and abilities on the opposite end of the spectrum of The Avengers,” while USA Today reveals the full roster. In addition to Squirrel Girl, the team will feature Robbie Baldwin (Speedball), Craig Hollis (Mister Immortal), Dwayne Taylor (Night Thrasher), Deborah Fields (Debrii) and Zack Smith (Microbe). You can read the Squirrel Girl blurb below (the others are at the link above), and check out some comic artwork of the characters:

Squirrel Girl is the spunky fangirl and ‘wonderful heart of the show’ with acrobat skills, superhuman strength and a cool squirrel tail, Biegel says. (She can also talk to critters including her sidekick, Tippy Toe.) ‘She is openly hopeful and earnest and sweet and optimistic, but smart and very determined that she can make a difference, too. She knows she’s great and if you’re not going to get on board with her, she’ll leave you in the dust.’

The character of Squirrel Girl has become a fan-favorite in recent years, with everyone from Anna Kendrick to Stranger Things star Shannon Purser campaigning for the role. Intriguingly, the report also teases a Speedball connection to the MCU with a “childhood was spent watching Quinjets take off from Avengers Tower.” In the books, Speedball, Night Thrasher, Microbe and Debrii were all part of the Stamford incident that kicked off the comic Civil War.

New Warriors is likely to begin casting soon, but who might fit the roster for Marvel’s young heroes?
