Food Bucket List: A Trip to Chico Hot Springs Delivers Big Flavor
It finally happened. I knew it would one day, but I wasn't sure when or where, but finally, I've checked a much desired dish off my "Food Bucket List"
Yes, I have a Food Bucket List. Foods that you really want to try, but you never have. I realize that might sound odd to some of you, but for my fellow foodies, they get it.
So, what did I check off the list? Well, I'm glad you asked. My mother-in-law is in Bozeman for a week or so visiting and it just so happens to be her 70th Birthday, so we wanted to do something special for her.
We reserved a table and went to Chico Hot Springs. It was my first time and I have to tell you, I was impressed. The ladies soaked for a bit while I drank Shirley Temples at the Bar and once they were done, we headed to dinner.
On the menu? Beef Wellington!
Beef Wellington is something I've wanted to try for years, but to be honest, not a whole lot of places have it. So, when I saw that was an option, I was like a fat kid on cake.
Beef Wellington might be one of the most perfect foods on Planet Earth, I mean, think about it. You have Angus Tenderloin topped with Duck Liver Pâté and Mushroom Duxelles and all of that inside of a Puff Pastry.
It. Was. Delicious. However, the whole menu is very impressive and of course they are known for the Flaming Orange dessert which has been a staple since the 1970's. However, I went with the Orange Crème Brûlée and it was out of this world.
Plus, the Dinning Room at Chico Hot Springs is just a pretty special place. For decades Montanans have been going there to dine on fine food in a very rustic Montana setting. It's the best of both worlds.
One more thing marked off the "Food Bucket List", up next, a homemade four course Italian meal, so if you know anyone from Italy....hook me up.
