The Blacktail Fire in the Crazy Mountains has grown substantially since it started burning on Sunday.

According to the U.S. Forest Service, the Blacktail Fire was very active overnight. The fire has burned approximately 4,000 acres so far, and has moved from public to private land. No structures haves been threatened or are currently threatened by the Blacktail Fire. No pre-evacuation or evacuation orders have been issued.

Crews from the U.S. Forest Service, and volunteer fire departments from Wheatland County and Sweetgrass County will continue fire suppression efforts today, as they focus on the north and south flanks of the Blacktail Fire. They will attempt to work in safer areas since the fire continues to burn in steep terrain, and dense timber.

Two helicopters, an air tanker, smoke jumpers, dozers, and ground crews are currently working the Blacktail Fire.
