Demi Lovato took time out of her busy schedule to visit ‘Good Morning America’ on Friday (July 6), performing a selection of hits for her fans at Central Park.

The 19-year-old showed up to perform the title track from her latest album, ‘Unbroken,’ as well as her hit single ‘Give Your Heart a Break.’ The appearance was a part of ‘GMA’s’ 2012 Summer Concert Series.

Lovato also sat down for an interview before the crowd, opening up about being a role model and why she was so open about her experience post-treatment. “To me, I don’t think it does anybody any good to just hide something or cover it up or lie or whatever,” she said. “I think, the reason why I did it is because that’s what being a role model is all about. It’s not about being perfect. It’s about speaking about your issues and inspiring others to get help.”

The ‘Skyscraper’ singer also touched on her new job as a judge on ‘X Factor‘ and working with Simon Cowell. “We have so much fun together,” she said of her castmate. “We tease each other, like, all day long, but I give it back to him … Anything he says to me, he’s going to get something back.” Kind of like planting his face into a cake — right Demi?
