‘Deadpool 2’ Reveals First Official Look at Josh Brolin’s ‘Grumpy, Heavily Armed’ Cable
If you’ve got a serious case of the Mondays, then Ryan Reynolds has just what you need to turn that frown upside down. Deadpool 2’s leading man has unveiled our first official look at Josh Brolin’s Cable, whose frown remains firmly planted in the downward position, seemingly (and predictably) unimpressed with Reynolds’ signature snark. Regardless of his grouchy demeanor, Brolin does look pretty awesome as the Merc With a Mouth’s classic foil.
It’s kind of hard to top Reynolds’ delightful descriptions, so I’m not even going to try. “Grumpy, heavily armed uncle from the future” is fairly accurate for Brolin’s look in the Deadpool sequel, in which he plays comic book favorite Cable — the time-traveling, genetically-engineered mutant offspring of Scott Summers and a clone of Jean Grey. (If you think that’s wild, that’s not even half of it.)
Brolin previously teased his physical transformation for his new role, which involved a slight change of hair and some serious hours in the gym. The actor is contracted for three films in the X-Men universe, including the Deadpool sequel and X-Force. Brolin is currently putting in overtime with Marvel projects; in addition to Cable, he’s also reprising his role as Thanos for the MCU in both Avengers: Infinity War and its untitled follow-up.
Deadpool 2 hits theaters on June 1, 2018.
