Hackers Hijack ‘Cash Me Outside’ Girl’s Instagram Account, Remind Everyone ‘She Is No God’
A hacker group who call themselves Face Security Group has taken over the Instagram account of Danielle Bregoli, who is best known on the Internet as the "Cash Me Outside" girl.
Her Instagram account, which has over 7.5 million followers, was first hijacked on March 7 when the group uploaded a video with their logo and a voiceover: "This is the modern day celebrity. This country glorifies and makes famous a young girl for being disrespectful to her mother. She is no role model. She is no idol. She is no God. Pay close attention to what happens next."
The second video, uploaded hours later, featured the following message: “Citizens of the world. Too long we have stood by idly and observed. It is time we take matters into our own hands. The time for change is now. The leaks begin Wednesday.”
The third video uploaded to Bregoli's account had an image of the United States flag upside down with a countdown timer beginning at 19 hours.
The last image posted on her account has the Face Security Group logo with their motto: "Democracy in darkness." The posting also references "1700 Reykjavik, Iceland" (12PM Eastern Time) although it is unknown what the group had planned to do.
Bregoli became an Internet sensation after her appearance on Dr. Phil for being a troubled teenager. Her response to Dr. Phil, "Cash me outside, how bout dat?" instantly became a new meme and she has since garnered worldwide fame as a result.
