City of Bozeman Closing All Playgrounds

The City of Bozeman announced that beginning on Thursday, April 2nd, all public playgrounds will be closed until further notice because of COVID-19.

According to the news release issued by the City today, the closure includes all 52 play structures, swings, slides, climbing apparatus (including climbing boulders), spinners, spring toys, zip lines, and any other equipment associated with a playground. The closure also includes the City of Bozeman Skate Park at Kirk Park.

It's important to note that this does not include City of Bozeman parks or dog parks.

Parks and Recreation Director Mitch Overton says, “These structures are high touch areas and even in these very strict times, dozens if not more children can utilize and touch these hard surfaces each day. We recognize our role in slowing the spread of COVID-19 and we do not feel like we are able to keep the structures sanitized in a way that meets or exceeds CDC guidelines.”

Director Overton also added, “Now more than ever, we wholeheartedly support the wise use of City of Bozeman parks and trails for health and wellness. Please enjoy our beautiful natural resources but follow guidelines and practice social distancing.”

Currently, all City of Bozeman facilities are closed to public access. This includes City Hall, the Alfred Stiff Professional Building, the Bozeman Public Library, and Parks and Recreation buildings and facilities. These closures went into affect on March 24th.
